About the Event

Why Attend This Webinar?

4RealSim invites you to an exclusive customer-only webinar focused on adaptive remeshing—an advanced feature within Abaqus/CAE and Abaqus/Standard designed to enhance solution quality and reduce meshing uncertainty. We believe in continuous learning and aim to empower our users with deeper understanding of simulation techniques that increase confidence, efficiency, and accuracy.

What is Adaptive Remeshing?

Adaptive remeshing is a numerical method that dynamically adjusts the finite element mesh during an analysis to meet user-defined accuracy goals. Abaqus/CAE and Abaqus/Standard work together to automatically or semi-automatically refine or coarsen the mesh based on criteria such as error indicators or target mesh sizes. This ensures the mesh evolves in response to solution behavior, particularly in regions with high gradients or localized phenomena like plastic deformation, crack propagation, or contact stress.

Abaqus uses error estimation techniques to evaluate where the mesh needs improvement, and then remeshes the geometry accordingly. The adaptivity process includes transferring existing solution fields onto the new mesh (mapping), solving again, and repeating the cycle until the convergence criteria are met. This leads to more accurate and stable results without needing to overly refine the mesh from the start—saving time and computational cost.

Key Benefits of Adaptive Remeshing

  • Improved solution accuracy with automated mesh refinement in critical areas.

  • Reduction of manual effort in defining complex mesh regions.

  • Minimized computational cost compared to over-refined static meshes.

  • Ability to solve problems with evolving geometry or high nonlinearity, such as contact or plastic deformation.

  • Support for both manual and fully automated remeshing workflows in Abaqus/CAE and Abaqus/Standard.

Who Should Attend?

  • 4RealSim customers working with Abaqus/CAE and Abaqus/Standard.

  • Simulation engineers seeking better control over mesh quality and solution accuracy.

  • Analysts dealing with highly nonlinear or localized deformation problems.

  • Users interested in learning about automated meshing strategies in Abaqus.
