Abaqus 2025 Installation

Installing Abaqus 2025 involves several detailed steps, from downloading the correct media to configuring license settings and optional components like Isight and Tosca. This step-by-step guide helps ensure a smooth and complete installation process across supported systems.





  1. Before You Start 

    1. This installation manual assumes that the license server is already operational. 

    2. Ensure the SIMULIA license server is already installed and running. 

    3. You need a valid 3DS Passport to access the software downloads. 

    4. Installation should be performed with administrator rights. 


  2. Download Abaqus 2025 Installation Files 

    1.  Go to https://software.3ds.com/ and log into your 3DS account. 

    2. Click on the column ‘Software downloads’ to access the download platform. 

    3. Navigate to SIMULIA → Select SIMULIA Abaqus, Isight, fe-safe and Tosca. 

    4. Select your operation system and select the Abaqus Golden version. 

    5. Download all the 5 tiles of the SIMULIA Abaqus Extended Products – Abaqus Golden. 


  3. Extract the Installation Media 

    1. Once downloaded, there will be 5 folders appear.  

    2. For the next step, we recommend using 7-Zip to extract the filel. Select all the five folders and choose “Extract Here”. This ensures the folder structure is created correctly. (In windows 11, click on ‘show more options’ if 7-Zip is already installed but not visible) 

    3. Once extraction is complete, verify that the folder AM_SIM_Abaqus_Extend.AllOS has been created. Open it and navigate to folder 1 to begin installation. 


  4. Launch and Configure the Suite Installer 

    1. Launch the Suite installer of SIMULIA.  

    2. Right-click the setup.exe inside folder 1 and choose “Run as administrator”. The Abaqus Suite Installer will launch.  

    3. Choose which SIMULIA programs to install. We recommend: 

      1. SIMULIA Established Products 

      2. SIMULIA Established Products CAA API 

      3. Isight 

    4. Click Install, the SIMULIA Established Products 2025 product installer will start up.  

    5. During the process, verification prompts may appear. Click Continue to proceed. 

  

  1. Define Installation and License Settings 

    1. Choose the installation directory, or keep it default as shown. Click Next. 

    2. Specify which components you want to install. In this default installation we will select all components which you can use with the Abaqus license. Select the following options: 

      1. Abaqus/Standard Solver, Abaqus/Explicit Solver 

      2. Abaqus CAE, Abaqus ODB API Services 

      3. Fe-safe, Tosca Structure 

      4. Material databases, interface, samples, and tutorials 

 

  1. Configure the License Server 

    1.  Continue to the license server configuration screen.  

    2. Depending on the license, select which option the license server configuration has to install.  

    3. For SIMULIA FLEXnet, select the option and click next. 

    4. Fill in the license server address: 

      1. For a local setup: 27000@localhost 

      2. For a remote server: 27000@hostname or 27000@<IP-address> 

    5. If your license goes through the DSLS server, the option ‘Skip licensing configuration’  


  2. Set Supporting Directories 

    1. Define a commands directory, or keep it default as shown. Click next. 

    2. Define a temporary directory, or keep it default as shown. Click next.  

    3. Define a plugin directory, or keep it default as shown. Click next. 

    4. The installation window will show an overview of installed components. 

    5. Click Continue to proceed. 


  1. Install the CAA API Components 

    1. Choose the CODE installation directory, or keep it default as shown to update with CAA API. 

    2. Select Abaqus/Standard Solver, Abaqus/Explicit Solver, Cosimulation Services, Abaqus ODB API Services, Abaqus CAE, Abaqus Samples, Tosca Stuctures, fe-safe, fe-safe interface to Abaqus 2025 ODBs, Material database server for fe-safe, fe-safe tutorial and sample data and fe-safe tutorial models for Abaqus. Click Next.  

    3. Select other Tosca Solver interfaces if required. Click next. 

    4. An overview window will show up, showing which products are to be installed on your computer. Click Install to proceed.  


  2. Install Isight 

    1. Choose an installation directory for Isight. Click next. 

    2. Select Isight Destop as component to install in the chosen directory from the last step. 

    3. Select the archive of a supported version of JRE. Go to https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/, select the Compressed Archive and download the most recent available option. Fill in the directory of the downloaded .zip file in order to continue the installation. Click next. 

    4. When asked for access to the SEE server, choose the option ‘Skip this for now’ and click next.  


  1. Finalize the Installation 

    1. After the last step, an overview will be shown, confirming the installation of the Isight Desktop components.  

    2. During the process, a verification prompt may appear. Click Continue to proceed. The installation now has completed.  


  1. Set Up DSLS Licensing Manually 

    1. If your Abaqus license uses DSLS (Dassault Systèmes License Server), you need to manually adjust two configuration files after installation. This step ensures that Abaqus can find and validate your license correctly. 

    2. Go to the following folder on your computer: C:\SIMULIA\EstProducts\2025\win_b64\SMA\site 

    3. Open the file named: EstablishedProductsConfig.ini 

    4. Add these two lines at the bottom of the ‘EstablishedProductsConfig.ini’: LICENSE_SERVER_TYPE=dsls DSLS_LICENSE_CONFIG=C:\ProgramData\DassaultSystemes\Licenses\DSLicSrv.txt 

    5. If there are any lines mentioning FLEXnet, comment out these code-lines by placing a ‘#’ in front of it.  

    6.  Abaqus will be installed and ready to run.
